The Anchor Story
Our story started when Drs. John and Yullie Stancil started Anchor Transportation, Inc. in 1989.  The original location was in Murfreesboro, Tennessee where John purchased one bus and started providing charter bus service to the local and the surrounding areas.

Anchor Transportation, Inc. was founded in 1989 by Drs. John and Yullie Stancil in Murfreesboro, TN. Their vision was to provide safe, cost-effective, and reliable transportation for groups. The company which started with one bus and two employees grew to 12 buses in 1995 when it moved to a larger facility in Nashville,TN to be near a majority of the customers.

As the business grew in sales and equipment, so did the staff. Jared Stancil, John’s nephew joined the company in September, 1999 to learn all aspects of the business. Jared began as a bus washer and worked his way up to working in the office where he learned the management side of the business. Presently, John holds the position of CEO and Jared is Vice President and General Manger, responsible for the day-to-day operations of the company.

As sales increased Anchor Transportation purchased more buses and additional staff members joined the company including Leigh Ann Stancil to handle the increased volume.

In 2003, the company’s sales territory expanded to Paducah, KY where they opened a satellite office. The following year Anchor Transportation expanded further by acquiring the facility and employees of a former charter bus company in Tuscumbia AL. In addition to opening the second satellite office in 2004, the company hired an experienced travel planner in their corporate office to provide comprehensive group travel packages.

The company continued to grow steadily for the next five years. With more than 20 buses and a larger office and garage staff, the company needed additional office and garage space. In October, 2007, the corporate office of Anchor Transportation moved to Whites Creek, TN to l0 acre facility at I-24 and Old Hickory Blvd. The company is still located there today. In June 2013, Anchor added a new office in Jackson, TN through acquiring another bus company.

Currently, Anchor Transportation has increased their fleet to over 60 units, including motorcoaches and mini buses. Anchor Tours is now the largest, family-owned motorcoach company in the Nashville area.

For Anchor Transportation, every bend in the road results in yet another opportunity and another new customer whom we can serve. We look forward to providing motorcoach service solutions for you!

Anchor Green Mission
As a long established business, Anchor Transportation has a vested interest in our environment and our communities. As an advocate for the environment we take added measures to minimize the amount of waste released into the ground and the air.
Reduce
The Company uses bio degradable products in its cleaning and washing applications and has invested in new clean engine technology to reduce emissions by using diesel particulate filters, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) and ultra low sulphur diesel fuel.
Reuse
The waste oil removed from the buses during regular maintenance is reused in the buildings’ heating systems which significantly reduces the energy costs during the winter months. The used antifreeze is treated, recycled and placed back into to use by Anchor. This recycling process also eliminates the need for Anchor to purchase new antifreeze.
Recycle
In addition to office paper, Anchor recycles all the fluids generated by our buses including engine oil and antifreeze. Additionally, Anchor Transportation has partnered with Goodyear tire to recycle all of its scrapped tires.
